New article published in "Applied Sciences" (MDPI)
The paper "Application of Machine Learning Techniques for Predicting Potential Vehicle-to-Pedestrian Collisions in Virtual Reality Scenarios" has just been published in open access journal "Applied Science" (MDPI).
The study is a collaboration between researchers from INSIA-UPM and the Virtual Reality and Data Visualization group at CEDINT-UPM in the context of the OPREVU project. In it, we describe how we combine Virtual Reality environments and machine learning algorithms to estimate the probability of pedestrians being hit, by studying their behavior and reactions in such risky situations. This study is expected to improve the design of a new generation of active safety systems, such as the Autonomous Emergency Braking system, in commercial vehicles.
