Abstract: 

The simultaneous multiple surfaces (SMS) 3D optical design method is a nontrivial extension of the SMS 2D design method. The SMS 3D design will transform the input bundles into the output ones. The method has many applications in nonimaging optics because it enables better control of the light emitted by an extended light source than any other 3D design method.
