The activity of the Virtual Reality Area at CeDInt mainly focuses on the development of tools for Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, tracking and natural interaction, computer vision, visualization, and visual analytics applied to solving technological challenges in areas such as security and surveillance; automation and personalized assistance in intelligent environments; surgery and forensic and legal medicine; architecture and urban planning; and the visualization and analysis of large volumes of data to support large-scale decision making (for example in Smart Cities). The area integrates advanced 3D modeling technologies, interactive simulation, and visual analytics to create highly realistic digital environments. It also investigates new forms of human–machine interaction through immersive devices and advanced sensors. Its developments help improve training, simulation, and planning processes across different professional sectors.
