El 13 de septiembre tendrá lugar en Zaragoza un workshop sobre Living labs, coorganizado por Funseam, CIRCE y CTA, en el marco de Tr@nsnet

On September 13 in Zaragoza will take place a workshop on Living labs, co-organized by Funseam, CIRCE and CTA, in the framework of Tr@nsnet. The workshop will focus on the creation and redesign of test environments for technological, social and regulatory innovations linked to the ecological transition.

We are at a defining moment for the ecological transition: the effective decarbonization of the economy requires now, much more than before, a greater boost to the conjunction between technological, social and regulatory innovation, and a better use of open innovation. As we know, the transition must be a fair process across industry sectors and focused on protecting the interests of consumers. In this sense, Living Labs play a fundamental role in the green transition as they are end-user focused testing environments for innovation, where different stakeholders can assume a crucial role in getting innovations to have an effective entry and acceptance in the market.

Although Living Labs have evolved into test environments with a more robust research focus, there is still a long way to go to adapt them to the demands of the green transition. In this context, two topical aspects are of interest to drive innovation. First, university campuses are emerging as meeting environments for all parties, public and private, interested in the innovation needed to decarbonize the economy. Secondly, regulatory innovation is on the table to ensure the entry into the market of innovations and business models that encounter barriers in current regulations. This is demonstrated in Spain by the Government’s approval in July of the Royal Decree on regulatory innovation in the electricity sector, which enables controlled spaces or sandboxes in which to experiment with potential regulatory improvements required by the sector.

In this context, Funseam, CIRCE and CTA from Spain and Université Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier from France organize this workshop addressed to representatives of the innovative environment of the SUDOE region in the energy, sustainability and circular economy sectors. In particular to:

• Living Labs representatives for innovations in these sectors.
• Staff in charge of technology transfer in research centers or universities.
• Staff in charge of open innovation in public or private organizations.
• Staff in charge of the technical and administrative management of demonstrators, testbeds and other elements of technological validation.
• Other parties interested in the creation of test environments for the validation of technological, social and regulatory innovations in the framework of the energy transition.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

• Help attendees design or improve a concrete value proposition for Living Labs.
• Explain to participants the benefits of certification in the ENoLL network, the world’s largest network of Living Labs.
• Present to the attendees a new Living Lab model proposed by the Tr@nsnet project to improve the capacity of test environments in the framework of the green transition.
