CEDINT-UPM hosts the last meeting of the SkiComCU project

On October 24 and 25, the Centro de Domótica Integral (CEDINT) of the Polytechnical University of Madrid hosted a plenary meeting of the European SkiComCu project which was attended, both in person and online, by different representatives of the consortium partners.
The meeting presented the progress of the different work packages, addressing issues such as the long-term strategic framework and methodology for lifelong learning of SkiComCu, the design and development of curriculum and educational and training tools, and the design and development of the SkiComCu Platform with implementation of XR tools.
Additionally, CEDINT researchers presented their facilities to highlight the technological capabilities of their Virtual Reality and Internet of Things labs. During the tour, attendees were able to explore the various possibilities that Extended Reality offers to improve the training of different professional profiles in the field of copper mining and metallurgy. Similarly, the possibilities of creating advanced Virtual and Augmented Reality environments to simulate complex operational situations were highlighted, allowing workers to practice safety protocols, operate virtualized machinery and face risk scenarios in a controlled environment.
These technologies offer added value to training in highly demanding sectors, adapting to the specific needs of mining and metallurgy to improve the safety and efficiency of processes.
With these initiatives, CEDINT consolidates its position as a benchmark in technological innovation applied to industry, demonstrating its commitment to knowledge transfer and the development of impact solutions for the sector.
