The European Alliance for Engineering and Science Learning Innovation (EELISA) has visited CeDint to learn about its facilities, mission and research projects in the framework of the activity organised by the think tank ESA-ESAC - SUSTAINABLE BCC.

EELISA is the first alliance of higher education institutions from different European countries aimed at defining and implementing a common European engineering model rooted in society. The programme involves the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, Université Paris Sciences et Lettres, the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, the Scuola Normale Superiore and the École des Ponts ParisTech among others.

In the framework of this partnership, the SUSBCC (Sustainable Buildings, Cities and Communities) community has been created, with more than 130 researchers and professors and whose objective is to foster a European university ecosystem to leverage synergies, innovate and educate by stimulating technical and social challenges for more efficient and sustainable buildings, cities and communities.

The ESA-ESAC - SUSTAINABLE BCC think tank is an educational activity that promotes innovation and generates new ideas to foster a comprehensive and sustainable rehabilitation of the European Space Agency (ESA) campus, following the spirit of the New European Bauhaus and with the triple focus of sustainability (social, economic and environmental).  Approximately 150 international students participate, both on-site and virtual, in hybrid format, and more than 50 international teachers, researchers and professionals.

This activity is an excellent opportunity for students participating in the ESA-ESAC campus to acquire a global and integrative vision, based on the spirit of the New European Bauhaus and sustainability, acquiring awareness and commitment to social, economic, energy and environmental concerns, as well as discovering the potential offered by current digital trends to support and promote them from an efficiency perspective.

The participants of this programme visited the CeDint-UPM facilities during the last week of June. A visit in which they were able to learn in detail about the main mission of this R&D centre of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, which promotes innovation and facilitates technology transfer to the companies in its environment, as well as its research work in the area of virtual reality and energy efficiency and the IoTMADLab project, in which smart urban spaces are designed to build an open, interoperable and cybersecure city in the city of Madrid.
