Igor Gómez completes his Master's Degree in Systems and Control Engineering with excellent marks

On 2 July, our colleague Igor Gómez Gil de San Vicente received the final grade for his Master's Thesis, obtaining a 9.4. With this grade, he successfully concludes the Master's Degree in Systems and Control Engineering, taught jointly by the UNED and the Complutense University of Madrid.
His Master's Thesis, entitled:
‘Large telescope dome control and monitoring system with absolute azimuth position detection by reading RFID tags’.
focuses on the development of an advanced technological solution to modernise the control system of one of the domes of the Sierra Nevada Observatory (IAA-CSIC). The project implements a novel azimuth localisation technique using RFID, complemented with magnetic sensors, standard interfaces such as ASCOM-Alpaca and MQTT, and an architecture based on Linux embedded systems. This modernisation will improve the accuracy, reliability and maintenance of the astronomical observation system.
From CeDInt we congratulate Igor for this magnificent result and thank him for his contribution to the team and to the technological development of high impact projects.
