Smethods

Project financed by the European Union in 2011, under the CSA (Coordination and Support Action) funding scheme of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
The mission of SMETHODS project is to strengthen Europe's optics and photonics industry by providing trainings and hands-on practice in optical design and simulation.
The mission of SMETHODS project is to strengthen Europe's optics and photonics industry by providing trainings and hands-on practice in optical design and simulation. SMETHODS courses are organized in 4 different domains, each one hold in a different University and each one having one week length:
- Domain 1: imaging optics. At Delft University of Technology. May 2012.
- Domain 2: non-imaging optics. At Technical University of Madrid, organized by CeDInt-UPM. July 2012.
- Domain 3: wave optics. At Vrije Universiteit Brussel. June 2012.
- Domain 4: diffractive optics. At Technische Universität Darmstadt. July 2012.
CeDInt-UPM organized during one week (18th-22nd June) the courses on non-imaging optics. During five days, 25 people coming from 10 different countries attended a practical and hands-on training course focused on real world problem designs, which enriched their knowledge and allowed an extense networking between the participants.
