Solar Decathlon is a competition organized by the U.S. Department of Energy for universities from all over the world, that challenges collegiate teams to design, build, and operate solar-powered houses that are cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive.
The winner of the competition is the team that best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.
The results aimed by the project are houses that are able to produce all the energy that they are going to consume and to develop prototypes of industrialized houses.
