The Virtual Reality and Data Visualization group of the CeDInt (Research Centre for Smart Buildings and Energy Efficiency) will organize the workshop "Virtual and Augmented Reality Tools for Mining Activities and the Raw Materials life cycle" on April 26. The event will take place at the School of Mining Engineering of Madrid from 10.30 to 14:00. The workshop is part of the European project VirtualMine - as a modeling tool for Wider Society Learning , whose main objectives are: to popularize mining among the general public and especially among children and students who start to develop their professional careers; to show the importance of minerals in our modern society; and to raise awareness about the importance of raw materials and their possible use for a better development of European regions.

Researchers from CeDint and ETSIME teachers will be in charge of explaining how the new technologies based on Virtual and Augmented Reality can be used to teach didactic content and promote knowledge on topics related to mining. The main objective of the workshop is to convey this information through a “learn-by-fun” approach. Therefore, short presentations will be alternated with demos on mining- and raw materials-related environments, where the participants will be introduced to the applications developed throughout the project.
